Data and Services Ecosystem for AI-oriented Research and Development
In the project "GAIA-X 4 KI" we focus on the development of a Gaia-X-based digital ecosystem for training and validation of AI applications in the automotive domain. The goal of the three-year project is to map relevant automotive applications in a federated system architecture and, based on the results of the project and the developments in Gaia-X, to build a digital ecosystem that will serve as the basis for further projects in the GAIA-X 4 Future Mobility project family.
Progressive digitization offers considerable potential for business models, (production) processes and (vehicle) applications in the automotive industry. In addition to software, a potent and scalable infrastructure is needed in particular to leverage the value creation potential. There, the market is currently dominated by non-European companies that do not fully support requirements of the automotive industry, such as the mobility of data and applications or required legal aspects. Therefore, GAIA-X 4 AI has to demonstrate that data and services - based on the supported use cases - can be mapped in a federated (GAIA-X) system landscape and under the necessary legal and functional requirements.
Within the framework of GAIA-X 4 KI, we ensure the exchange and compatibility between GAIA-X 4 KI and the GAIA-X initiative. To this end, we take the lead in implementing the necessary interfaces to the GaGAIA-X federation services. Furthermore, we support the partners in the implementation of the Gaia-X 4 AI ecosystem in the area of service orchestration as well as in the formation of a Mobility Data Space to share knowledge based on the findings of the International Data Spaces. As a central component, we develop a GAIA-X 4 AI Connector to enforce the required data usage conditions of the automotive industry.
GAIA-X 4 KI achieves for the first time a linkage of the topics GAIA-X, automotive applications, cloud systems and the handling of data and services for the operation of AI applications. In GAIA-X 4 KI, a first GAIA-X compatible digital ecosystem is created in the automotive field, which will serve as a starting point for further research and applications in the field of GAIA-X 4 Future Mobility.
