Situation-aware Information Logistics

Information logistics is the optimization of the availability and the processing time of information and thus an essential part of the logistics. Information flows accompany goods flows either synchronously or time-shifted. Thereby, the availability of information in real-time or also in advance is of increasing importance.

Fraunhofer ISST has been researching information logistics for many years [see, for example, »Report Informationslogistik« by W. Deiters and C. Lienemann, published in 2001 at symposion]. Due to the mega trend »Digitization« the focused selection of information is becoming increasingly important. We therefore use new technologies such as Beacons and embedded systems in conjunction with location and situation models for a situation-adaptive information logistics.
