Coop4Health.NRW

Citizens' cooperative for strengthening the health and well-being of the population in NRW

Within the framework of Coop4Health.NRW, a citizens' cooperative is being founded with the aim of "improving the health and well-being of the NRW population". Through the innovative governance approach, the participants themselves are to have full control over the sharing of their personal (health-related) data, while being able to decide jointly on its use for the benefit of all stakeholders. The data can then be made available to interested stakeholders within and outside the health sector.

The challenge

The challenges of the Coop4Health consortium are:

  • Providing personalised and comprehensive support for people to self-manage their health and well-being;
  • Ensuring privacy and implementing individual-controlled personal data management;
  • Supporting policymakers to involve local people in local policy and public life, in evaluating policy decisions and in developing new interventions to maintain and improve the health of the population;
  • Providing a platform for data-driven research and innovation in health;
  • The design and implementation of innovative and democratic financing models.

Our performance

In the project, Fraunhofer ISST is largely responsible for digital process support in the form of a platform and an interface to the users. In doing so, Fraunhofer ISST is in close exchange with the project partners and all stakeholders such as locals and cities.

Within the framework of the project, the implementation of a data platform is planned, which will enable the administration, acquisition and provision of data within the framework of the Genossenschaftliches Regularium. In compliance with data protection, security and cooperative law requirements, components and concepts will be developed and implemented that enable all relevant stakeholders to communicate and interact with the data platform and other relevant interest groups.

The results

Participants are offered individualised prevention, health promotion and health care measures that are specifically geared to their needs and desired by them. The use of the knowledge of the citizens' cooperative will improve local and regional health care provision and planning in North Rhine-Westphalia and open up new opportunities for the digital health economy.

contec GmbH is coordinating the overall project.
