Silicon Economy Logistics Ecosystem
Digital platforms and their AI are crucial to fully exploit the optimization potential for processes, digital services and new business areas in logistics. In order to achieve this optimally, a decentralized (platform) ecosystem is being created in the SELE project, the results of which will be made available as open source.
No German company alone has enough motivation, market power or resources to prevail in the logistics of a silicone economy on its own. Open, federal and implementation-strong consortia from industry and science, in which technologies, de facto standards and new business models are quickly brought together and developed, would be able to create the basis for the economic use of AI solutions with new services, technologies and applications in logistics and supply chain management and to enable the decisive participation of German SMEs. The aim is to create open and federal platforms that benefit everyone.
The Fraunhofer ISST represents the International Data Spaces (IDS) in the project "Silicon Economy Logistics Ecosystem". There, developments on the topic of IDS in all use cases are supervised by the Fraunhofer ISST. The IDS serves as the communication network of the Silicon Economy, bringing together the various and versatile components of the ecosystem.
The aim of the project "Silicon Economy Logistics Ecosystem (SELE)" is to create a federal and decentralized (platform) ecosystem - the Silicon Economy - as an alternative to monopolistic platforms for logistics. Such a platform ecosystem is the economic concept of the future: it is the only way to control the increasingly complex supply chains. All results of the project will be made available to the general public for free use as open source software via a development and operating platform.
The SELE and Blockchain Europe describe two building blocks of the same vision. Together they form the basis of a Silicon Economy, i.e. a data and platform economy in which people, companies, autonomous vehicles and IoT devices interact with each other according to Industry 4.0 principles.
