As AI advances, data is becoming increasingly important, which simultaneously gives rise to new challenges—particularly with regard to data protection, national security, and economic competitiveness. The joint study with colleagues from Dartmouth examines how different countries are addressing these challenges through overarching strategies and associated regulations. The focus is on the strategies and regulations of major economic regions such as the U.S., the EU, China, Korea, Japan, and India. By comparing these approaches, the study analyzes the impact of different regulations on globally active companies with complex supply chains. Furthermore, the regulations are structured into three levels: data-based services, data objects, and infrastructure. Finally, key differences are identified and their potential consequences are discussed.
