The paper explains Enterprise Data Managementas a core organizational capability that enables industrial companies to systematically use data as a strategic resource. In view of changing market requirements, new regulatory demands, and technological innovations, companies must manage their data in a targeted way in order to remain competitive. Targeted management not only enables more efficient processes, but also data-driven products, services, and new business models.

The paper illustrates that successful data management creates both direct and indirect benefits - for example, in the form of improved data quality, greater transparency, operational excellence, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Enterprise Data Management therefore includes, among other things, data strategy, data governance, data culture, data quality, data architecture, data platforms, and data sharing.

It is particularly important that these capabilities are continuously developed further, as internal and external requirements change dynamically. For long-term success, suitable governance structures, clear responsibilities, data literacy, and a strategic understanding of data as a corporate resource are essential alongside technical solutions.
