Research on data spaces, Eclipse Dataspace Components (EDC), Digital Product Pass (DPP), and data space architectures.
Data management is the foundation of digital value creation and plays a central role in the innovation and competitiveness of modern companies. In an increasingly networked and data-driven world, companies are faced with the challenge of managing ever larger and more heterogeneous data volumes efficiently, securely, and confidently. Conventional approaches often reach their limits, especially when it comes to interoperability, data protection, data quality, and the flexible integration of new data sources. Our research area is dedicated to developing and integrating innovative methods and technologies that give companies full control over their data and strengthen digital sovereignty.
A particular focus is on the development of data space technologies that ensure secure, standardized, and trustworthy data exchange between partners and within ecosystems. We support companies and IT service providers in integrating data space solutions into their business processes, developing new data-based services, and thus tapping into additional value creation potential.
Through active participation in strategic initiatives such as Gaia-X and the International Data Spaces Association, we are driving forward the standardization and development of sustainable, interoperable data ecosystems that benefit both companies and society. Our holistic approach includes the development of data governance models, the performance of data assessments, the development of process models, and the support of proof-of-concepts for innovative data management tools. We place particular emphasis on practical implementation and close cooperation with partners from industry and research in order to create solutions that meet the real requirements of the market.
Our research results show that the use of modern data management technologies can significantly increase data availability and quality, reduce integration efforts, and lay the foundation for data-driven innovations. In this way, we make an important contribution to strengthening the competitiveness of our partners and shaping the digital transformation in a sustainable manner.
